What is the Egyptian Board Certificate (formerly the Egyptian Fellowship)?

  • The Egyptian Board Certificate is a professional scientific certificate based on practicing the profession and training in a practical way.
  • Training in the Egyptian Board is a systematic, clinical and practical training in approved medical specialties.
  • It depends on acquiring the necessary skills for specialization during work (on job training), in addition to the trainee attending theoretical lectures, clinical training, workshops, and discussing modern scientific journals organized and supervised by the Scientific Council of the specialty.

Duration of training in the Egyptian Board (formerly the Egyptian Fellowship)

  • The duration of the training program is from 2 to 7 years, depending on the specialization, during which the trainee devotes full time to training in one of the hospitals or training centers approved by the fellowship

Admission and coordination procedures

  • The Higher Committee for Health Specialties announces the governorates that have vacant training places in the required specializations, according to the training capacity.
  • The applicant must complete all required certificates and papers before submitting his papers within the date announced in the advertisement
  • Desires are filled by applicants for the fellowship program by selecting 5 training provinces in order of their desires according to the available provinces.
  • Papers are accepted only from the applicant personally or from his representative under an official power of attorney.
  • After the end of the submission and before coordination, the applicants’ files are reviewed and any file that is incomplete or does not meet the conditions for any reason is excluded after matching it with the data registered by the applicant.
  • Coordination is done electronically according to the following priorities:
    1. The general estimate, and in the event of equality, the differentiation takes place according to item
    2. Assessment of the subject of specialization if the specialization is among the subjects that are studied separately in the college or the general specialization in the disciplines (internal - surgical). In the case of equality, the comparison is made according to item
    3. Age: the eldest first.
    4. The governorates in which the doctor wishes to train according to the places available in the governorates.
    5. Priority for applicants with a bachelor's degree.
  • Then the applicants with postgraduate degrees (modern diploma - master’s degree) are arranged according to the general estimate, then the estimate of specialization, then age, then desires.
  • Some majors that have special conditions and require special skills, such as health informatics and health facilities management, may require personal interviews and a selection matrix to compare applicants.
  • The fellowship applicant has the right to complain about the result of coordination immediately after announcing the opening of the grievance door.

Required Documents

  • Egyptians working in the Ministry of Health:
    1. The application for enrollment and the acknowledgment on the enrollment form approved and stamped by the original employer.
    2. Employment status statement.
    3. The original academic qualification.
    4. The original Certificate of Excellence.
    5. For applicants with a bachelor’s degree: a transcript of grades indicating the subject related to the advanced specialization, as it is one of the subjects that are taught separately in the college, such as (ophthalmology - ear, nose and throat - family planning - internal medicine - specialized surgeries).
    6. The original birth certificate.
    7. Three recent personal photos, 4×6.
    8. A photo of personal identification.
    9. The position on conscription for males (a true copy for the employees of the Ministry of Health).
    10. The original certificate of equivalency for physicians graduates of private universities.
    11. The original license to practice the profession.
    12. A TOEFL certificate from one of the Egyptian public universities written on it (TOEFEL) with a total score of 500 degrees or written on it equal to the TOEFEL.
    13. Computer Certificate (ICDL) from the Training Center at Mounira General Hospital - Cairo, or the International Computer License, ICDL International, which can be verified through the website icdlarabia.org/verify.
  • Egyptians who are not working in the Ministry of Health:
    1. The application for enrollment and the acknowledgment included in the enrollment form is approved and stamped by the original employer if the doctor works outside the Ministry of Health, such as: (non-governmental bodies, universities, student hospitals, etc.........) unless the applicant is a freelance doctor.
    2. The approval of the original employer if the doctor works outside the Ministry of Health, such as: (non-governmental organizations, universities, student hospitals, etc.........) and to bring proof of the approval of the employer on a full-time basis throughout the years of training in the specialty, and that approval is From the original employer itself and not from the departments in which the doctor works, unless the applicant is a freelance doctor.
    3. The original academic qualification.
    4. For applicants with a bachelor’s degree: (a statement of grades with an assessment of the subject related to the specialization as shown in the advertisement according to each major).
    5. The original Certificate of Excellence.
    6. The original certificate of a freelance doctor if the applicant is a freelance doctor, and what proves that he is a freelance doctor in the syndicate card or in the national ID card.
    7. The original birth certificate.
    8. Three recent 4×6 personal photos.
    9. A photo of personal identification.
    10. The origin of the attitude towards army conscription.
    11. The original certificate of equivalency for physicians graduates of private universities.
    12. An insurance policy against occupational risks.
    13. The original license to practice the profession.
    14. A TOEFL certificate from an Egyptian public university with a score of 500 written on it (TOEFEL) or written on it equal to TOEFEL.
    15. Computer Certificate (ICDL) from the Training Center at Mounira General Hospital - Cairo, or the International Computer License, ICDL International, which can be verified through the website icdlarabia.org/verify.
  • Non-Egyptians
    1. Bachelor's degree
    2. Certificate of Excellence
    3. Equivalency certificate for graduates from private universities or universities from abroad.
    4. Graduate studies certificate, if any
    5. The passport is valid for one year (from the date of the announcement)
    6. A translation of the certificates in English or Arabic if they are not in one of these two languages

Regulations

The regulations and training curricula of the Higher Committee for Medical Specialties (formerly) and the Egyptian Authority for compulsory training of physicians (each in their specialization) will continue to be implemented until the development of the regulations and training curricula by the Egyptian Health Council.
